Heritage Tours at St Mary’s on 31 May & 3 June

Book a place to attend a free tour of St Mary’s, Walthamstow’s ancient church and oldest building. Tours will be held on Wednesday 31 May at Noon and on Saturday 3 June at 2pm and 3.15pm.

Cyanotype Workshop (27/5)

On Saturday 27 May, join us for a free cyanotype workshop led by St Mary’s own Fiona Fouhy. Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves placing an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and blue images. 

‘Material Witnesses’ Faith & Fashion Talk (23/5)

On Tuesday 23 May at 6pm, Professor Reina Lewis from London College of Fashion, University of the Arts, will lead an expert panel at St Mary’s to discus the diverse religious, spiritual and moral perspectives articulated through fashion and style – something explored in our inaugural exhibition, Material Witnesses.

Chelsea Fringe at St Mary’s on 27 May

While the iconic RHS Chelsea Flower Show takes place late this month, fringe events will be held around London, including in St Mary’s Churchyard on Saturday 27 May from 11am to 2pm.

Book a place to attend a free tour of St Mary’s – Walthamstow’s ancient church and oldest building – on Tuesday 9 May at Noon, or on Saturday 20 May at either 2pm or 3.15pm. 

29/4 Workshop & Concert to Tell the Story of Walthamstow

St Mary’s will host an afternoon singing workshop followed by an evening concert on Saturday 29 April. Supported by the National Heritage Lottery Fund as part our ‘Creative Church’ regeneration project, both the workshop and concert will tell the story of Walthamstow through music. Those attending the 2.30pm workshop will be invited to perform in the concert, which will be held that same evening at 6pm in St Mary’s – Walthamstow’s ancient church and oldest building.

St Mary’s Reopening Weekend (23-26 February 2023)

We’re delighted to celebrate the reopening of St Mary’s on the final weekend of February 2023 with free events for all ages. For all events on Thursday and Saturday, you must book in advance.

Advent & Christmas 2022 at St Mary’s

Join us for Advent and Christmas as we reopen Walthamstow’s ancient church and oldest building to the whole community on 11 December with two morning services of Holy Communion at 9am and 10.30am, followed by Orchestral Carols at 6pm.

Auction of Promises

St Mary’s is holding an online “auction of promises” to raise money for our Creative Church regeneration project, and you’re invited to make an online bid by 1 November 2022 by clicking here. Members of St Mary’s are offering 17 opportunities for you to bid on, including a storytelling performance for a child’s birthday, a day of sailing along the Jurassic Coast, a print by a professional artist, a house gig, a private tour of St Paul’s Cathedral and much more!

St Mary’s Quiz Night on Saturday 8 October

We’re holding a Quiz Night in the Welcome Centre this Saturday, 8 October, to raise money for our Creative Church regeneration project. 

Tickets for the Quiz Night – which starts at 7.30pm and will see teams of 8 compete – are £10 for adults (£10.70 with fees), and £7.50 (£8.15 with fees) for children and young people ages 10-17.
