Churchyard Update (19/7)

By Tim Hewitt, St Mary’s Head Gardener

This week’s update? Some sunscreen is the short answer. As well as probably the best of the South border and Old Wall bed.

We continue to take down the long grass as Yellow Rattle is harvested, as well as making inroads into the overgrown areas of the Vinegar Alley and the triangle sites.

In flower this week are Thyme, Canna Erebus, Sweet peas, Allium Summer Drummer, Inula magnifica, Monarda, Stachys Hummalo, Hemerocallis, Dianthus, Persicaria, Phlox, Thalictrum Elin, Veronica Ink, Alcea Nigra, Lysimachia ephemerum and Crocosmia Lucifer to name just a few!

Quote of the Week

“Make the most of life you may,

Life is short and wears away”

-William Oldys, 1732
