St Mary’s Church is Walthamstow’s oldest building and is undergoing major renovations to make it an inclusive, accessible community gathering space and a centre of arts and culture alongside being a working church.
We’re inviting you to be a part of the history-making regeneration of one of Walthamstow’s most-loved and notable buildings by sponsoring a chair.
To make this Grade II*-listed 12th century building more flexible and accessible, we are removing the 100 year-old ground-floor pews and replacing them with beautiful chairs, which will increase the variety of events we will be able to host in the church.
To help with this, we are inviting local people and businesses to sponsor one or more of these chairs, which have been selected for their beauty, durability and ‘stackability’!
By sponsoring a chair, each of which costs £250, you will not only ensure that Walthamstow’s ancient church becomes a centre of arts and culture – one that is open to the whole community in the week – but you will also be able to include a short dedication, engraved on a plaque, that will be attached to each chair you sponsor.
As a sponsor, you will also receive a certificate of thanks and a special history booklet.
