Join us for our ‘Rooted in Community’ gardening event on Saturday 17th May, 11am to 2pm, in and around St Mary’s Churchyard. The day will include free churchyard tours led by our head gardener Tim Hewitt (11:15-12:00, 12:30-13:15), while bee expert Tony Madgwick will give free talks throughout the event on the types of bees found in the churchyard. There will also be plant stalls as well as a number of ticketed events.
The paid, ticketed events include:
Willow Weaving Workshop with artist Angela Baker (Times: 11:15-12:00, 12:15-13:00, 13:15-14:00)
Weave your own willow butterfly or crown and a decoration to add to the churchyard’s brand new willow tunnel in this 45-minute workshop. Suitable for adults and kids aged 6+. £12.50 per person. Book your ticket here.
Newt Workshop with artist Fiona Fouhy (Times: 11:00-12:30, 13:00-14:30)
Learn about the world of newts next to their pond and make your own newt from recycled materials in this exciting outdoor art workshop. Suitable for adults and kids aged 10+ (Under 14s must be accompanied). £10 per person. Book your ticket here.
Church Clock Room Tours with premises manager John Chambers and ‘keeper of the clock’ David Christmas (Times: 11.30-12:00, 12:10-12:40)
John and David show you the St Mary’s Tower Clock Room with a glimpse at the newly-renovated clock mechanism. £5 per person. Book tickets on the day at the Welcome Desk.
