St Mary’s Walthamstow reopened in December 2022 after a major restoration by Matthew Lloyd Architects. In addition to being a working church, our Grade II* building is now a beautiful heritage venue for concerts, retreats, meetings, children's parties on Sunday afternoons, filming, and school and community events.
We also have our church hall – the St Mary's Welcome Centre – as a second venue where you can hire a medium-sized room or larger hall.
Fully equipped for sound and lighting, the church’s main space is a special location for performances, while our church Play Area is perfect for Sunday afternoon children’s parties. Our smaller church vestry rooms are ideal for smaller meetings and away days. With views over our churchyards, the church offers a peaceful retreat just minutes from Walthamstow Central.
Additionally, just across the churchyard, is St Mary’s Welcome Centre which offers flexible spaces for hire, including a large hall that seats 100 and a lounge that seats 20+ adults, with a full-service kitchen as well as a private garden and patio space.

North & South
Vestries
Both vestries are situated at the back of the church, facing the churchyards, and so make for quiet and peaceful places to meet.
- The rooms are flexible and can be set up for your needs. Both spaces would suit a board meeting of 8-10 people and a more informal gathering for up to 12 people.
- The rooms are ideal for 1-2-1 meetings, charity or PCC away days, or strategy and brainstorming sessions with small teams.
- The vestries are equipped with flip charts and can be set up with AV for presentations or video calls.
- There are tea and coffee-making facilities in both rooms, toilets accessible by a private corridor, and we also offer refreshment and catering packages.

Main Space
The stunning St Mary’s main space can seat up to 260 on the ground floor, with a further 60 people in the upstairs gallery.
- Fully equipped for sound and AV, the space offers flexibility and grandeur whilst also being warm and welcoming.
- The servery can be hired separately for bar service or for light refreshments.

Exhibition Space
The newest part of St Mary’s building, our Exhibition Space, opened in December 2022. A beautiful, light space ideal for arts or heritage exhibitions, small receptions or gatherings, this area can hold up to 20 people.
- It is equipped with a flexible hanging system for displaying artwork, and has speakers which can be used for sound installations.
