Historical Research
St Mary’s Walthamstow has a rich history spanning over 900 years from its foundations in the 12th Century. The church itself is an architectural treasure map of the ages, whilst the monuments in the church and four-acre churchyard reveal the stories of fascinating people from Walthamstow’s past.
We have a group of research volunteers who continue to investigate these histories in the archives, with so much still to be discovered. We’re always looking for history enthusiasts interested in helping us to find out more – and no prior research experience is necessary. Please email Fran Meana, Community Engagement Officer, at fran@stmaryswalthamstow.org, if you’re interested in getting involved or learning more.
