St Mary’s has two new exciting job openings – a Community Engagement Officer and a Community Gardener – both of which are funded as part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund-supported Creative Church project, which will regenerate St Mary’s ancient building.
A synopsis of each job is below, as well as a PDF for each job with full job details.
Community Engagement Officer
The ancient parish church of St Mary’s Walthamstow has been awarded a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant to restore and re-order our 900-year old building and to enable thousands of people to explore the fascinating heritage and history of the church.
Our project will also see St Mary’s become a creative centre, focusing particularly on live music, arts and gardening, which we will use to engage with the wider community and provide a range of new learning and participation opportunities. Through arts and music, we will celebrate local heritage and the cultural diversity of Walthamstow. Our vision is for St Mary’s to become a true community asset, thriving and open, and welcome to all.
We are seeking a Community Engagement Officer to work with local partners, volunteers and other key stakeholders to deliver the exciting community-based activities that will complement the construction programme and support engagement and learning.
Applications are invited from highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals with a minimum of 3-years community arts or heritage experience. We are particularly keen to hear from candidates with a good understanding of the Church of England, a sympathetic attitude towards our ethos, aims and approach, and a proven commitment to working with diverse and disadvantaged groups.
If you have a good understanding and experience of managing and delivering a detailed community-focused activity plan, maintaining strong partnership relationships, managing budgets and developing volunteer programmes, we would love to hear from you.
