We’re delighted to celebrate the reopening of St Mary’s on the final weekend of February 2023 with free events for all ages. Please note that for all events on Thursday and Saturday, you must book in advance (links to book are below).
Service of Rededication: Thursday 23 February 2023, 7.30pm
Join us for a joyful celebration of the renovation of St Mary’s Church in a service led by Rt Revd Lynne Cullens, Bishop of Barking. After the service, free drinks and refreshments will be served, but you must book in advance.

‘Choogh Choogh’ Children’s Theatre Event: Saturday 25 February 2023, 10am and 11.30am
Ideal for children ages 5-7, experience the sights, sounds, and smells as evoked through South Asian dance, music and theatre – and meet some amazing characters along the way! – on this train journey through India. The event is free, but booking is essential.

‘A Better World is Possible’ Concert: Saturday 25 February 2023, 7.30pm
We are delighted to welcome London Forest Choir, the Sylvan Ensemble and Special Guests as we celebrate the reopening of St Mary’s Walthamstow with an original, specially-commissioned piece by composer and choir director Jonathan Rathbone. This concert has been made possible by the generosity of the National Lottery Heritage Fund and is supported by the estate of Miss Christine Walker, a great friend of St Mary’s and a lover of music. The event is free, but you must book in advance.

Celebration Services: Sunday 26 February 2023, 9am and 10.30am
Celebrate St Mary’s official reopening with a service of Holy Communion at 9am and a service for all generations at 10.30am. We’ll complete our celebrations with a bring-and-share lunch in the church after the 10.30am service. No booking is required for either service and all are welcome.
