Sunday Service (30/8)

Welcome to our service for Sunday 30th August. Today, we join with our sister congregation, St Gabriel’s, to share in worship. This week, we’re taking a break from our ‘Way of Love’ series to reflect on the last several months as a parish, and also to prepare for the re-opening of our church buildings in September. As St Mary’s, we will offer a weekly 9am communion service in our building starting next Sunday, 6th September; however, we will continue to offer our current digital services along with additional online resources for children and families.

For those who attend an in-person service, masks will be required at all times, a one-way system will be in place, and pre-booking will be required (full details on all aspects of our building re-opening for worship will be released on Monday on our social media channels and website).

As we sing, pray and listen together, today’s service invites us to reflect on lament, gratitude and hope. There are short talks from our Reader Robert Duddridge, Curate Dave Edmondson and our Rector, Revd Vanessa Conant.  Scripture readings are from Louise Russell, Dane McFarlane and Brian Foxton, our prayers are led by Jade Danaswamy-Santiz and we have special music from Jonathan Rathbone and the Stow Orchestra.

Today we also give thanks for Matt, Lydia and Irene Ralph, who Vanessa interviews as part of today’s service. Matt will soon begin training for ordination at Ridley Hall, Cambridge, where the Ralphs will be living. Join our service now by clicking here.

While you can join our pre-recorded service at any time, we will also be watching it live together on Zoom at 10.30am, and afterwards, we’ll have a post-service hangout on Zoom at 11.30am. To join us for either, check your inbox for the weekly parish email, as the link is there. If you don’t receive our parish email and would like to – or would like today’s Zoom link – email cameron@stmaryswalthamstow.org and we’ll send it to you.

Finally, if you’d like to give financially to the work of St Mary’s, you can do so securely and in seconds by clicking here. Your contributions are our primary source of income; together, we make church happen.
