Welcome to our service for the first Sunday in Lent. Over the next 40 days, the church reflects on and prepares for the celebrations of Easter. This is a season of prayer, generosity and repentance. As we follow the example of Jesus who fasted for 40 days in the wilderness, we try and live more simply, frugally and attentively so we might become more aware of God.
Our service is led by our Community Organiser and Church Planter Charnelle Barclay, and our preacher today is Natalie Burwell. Laura Elgie and Fiona Lundie-Smith bring our scripture readings, and Dr Christine Checinska leads our prayers and intercessions. With music from Jonathan and Helen Rathbone, we pray this service will help you enter into this season with new hope and vision.
While you can watch today’s pre-recorded service at any time by clicking here, you are also invited to join us at 10.30am on our Facebook page as we go through the service, with some portions delivered live, others pre-recorded. To join us live on Facebook at 10.30am, click here.
We’re also excited to bring you another online service for children and families this week. Led by Jo Talbott and our children’s ministry team, each children’s service includes games, activities, songs and teaching. To access this week’s children’s service, click here.
Finally, donations are our primary source of income and help us serve each other and all of Walthamstow. To make a one-time donation or set up a standing order, securely and in seconds, click here.
