Sundays

Church happens throughout the week, but our main gatherings are Sundays at 9am and 10.30am.

As of 11 December 2022, we are once again back in our ancient church building after an 18-month regeneration project and excited for you to experience the beautifully restored and expanded building.

Our weekly 9am service is Holy Communion – a simple liturgical service which includes a short sermon – while our 10.30am service celebrates Communion every first and third Sunday of the month, has a slightly longer sermon and also features music.

For those who are unable to attend church in-person, we will continue to offer an online service at 10.30am, which we live-stream to our Facebook page.

Please note that over the summer holidays, we’ll follow a simplified schedule from what is listed below, with Holy Communion at both 9am and 10.30am each week. Whilst we won’t have supervised children’s groups over the summer, there will be activity packs and play areas for children and each service will last about one hour.

St Mary’s 10.30am service is relaxed and welcomes people of all ages, including children and young people.

During school term-time, we regularly have Children’s Ministry in the Welcome Centre at our 10.30am service, though children and adults begin each service together, in the church building, with children being led over to the Welcome Centre 15 minutes into the service.

The current school-year pattern for children’s worship at our Sunday 10.30am service is as follows (please note that there are no supervised children’s groups during the month of August, though our baby and toddler room will be set up for self-guided play and children are always welcome in our services, with activity packs provided):

1st Sunday of the month at 10.30am: Children’s Ministry Groups in the Welcome Centre (our church hall)

2nd Sunday of the month at 10.30am: No groups, but a baby and toddler lounge will be set up in the South Vestry of the church building, with older children welcome in the main service

3rd Sunday of the month at 10.30am: Children’s Ministry Groups in the Welcome Centre

4th Sunday of the month at 10.30am: Intergenerational Service (40-minute service, adults and children together)

St Mary’s is a diverse and inclusive church for the whole community where all are welcome, always. Whoever you are – and wherever you’re at on the journey of faith – you will be welcomed!
