Sundays

Church happens throughout the week, but our main gatherings are on Sundays at 9am and 10.30am.

Due to our Creative Church regeneration project, both of our Sunday Services are now in the Welcome Centre, which is our church hall located just across the churchyard from the church building. We expect to be based in the Welcome Centre until late 2022, though possibly longer.

Our weekly 9am service is Holy Communion – a simple liturgical service which includes a short sermon – while our 10.30am service celebrates Communion every first and third Sunday of the month, has a slightly longer sermon and also features music. Since 25th July 2021, we are again singing together in the building.

We have relaxed social distancing measures, but because the Welcome Centre is significantly smaller than our church building, we are asking anyone who attends a Sunday Service to wear a mask indoors if they are able. Our goal is to protect the most vulnerable, and while case numbers are still relatively high, wearing a mask is something we can do to keep each other safe.

For those who are unable to attend church in-person, we will continue to offer an online service at 10.30am, which we live-stream to our Facebook page from the Welcome Centre.

While booking isn’t necessary, booking a place at our services helps us with Track and Trace. To book a place at an upcoming 9am Holy Communion service in the Welcome Centre, click here.

St Mary’s 10.30am service is relaxed and welcomes people of all ages, including children and young people.

We are pleased to again be offering Children’s Ministry at our 10.30am service.

The current pattern for children’s worship at our Sunday 10.30am service is as follows:

1st Sunday of the month: Children’s Ministry Groups

2nd Sunday of the month: No groups, but self-guided play in the Welcome Centre lounge

3rd Sunday of the month: Children’s Ministry Groups

4th Sunday of the month: Intergenerational Service (40 minute-long service with adults and children together)

We are also now gathering every Sunday Evening at 6pm in the Welcome Centre. The first Sunday of every month has replaced our Parish Prayer gatherings and is now an extended time of contemporary sung worship (our ‘Agape’ service), while the other Sunday Evenings of the month are set aside for a time of informal prayer.

St Mary’s is a diverse and inclusive church for the whole community where all are welcome, always. Whoever you are – and wherever you’re at on the journey of faith – you will be welcomed!
