Youth and children

Worship and faith formation happen at every age and stage, but especially in childhood, which is why we take formation for children and young people so seriously. Due to our Creative Church regeneration project – which will see our ancient building restored from Autumn 2021, and will likely take at least 12 months – we have moved to the Welcome Centre (our church hall, which is located across the churchyard from the church).

We are now offering two children’s ministry sessions per month during our 10.30am service, and we’d love to be able to have enough adult volunteers to offer a third children’s session per month. If you feel that God might be calling you to explore leading a children’s group, or you would like to learn more about what the children’s ministry team does, please speak to a member of the clergy or to one of our children’s ministry team.

The current pattern for children’s worship at our Sunday 10.30am service is as follows:

1st Sunday of the month: Children’s Ministry Groups

2nd Sunday of the month: No groups, but self-guided play in the Welcome Centre lounge

3rd Sunday of the month: Children’s Ministry Groups

4th Sunday of the month: Intergenerational Service (40 minute-long service with adults and children together)

(more information on Sunday Services at St Mary’s here).

As for youth ages 11-18, we offer Sunday evening groups; please talk to a member of the clergy team for more information. For the latest information on children’s and youth ministry at St Mary’s, please also subscribe to our weekly Parish Newsletter by emailing us at
