‘A Street Through Time’ Explores the Hidden History of Church Hill Road

‘A Street Through Time’ – a new show in St Mary’s Exhibition Space which runs from March until June 2024, and which was inspired by the BBC history series, ‘A House Through Time’ – explores the hidden history of Church Hill Road, including its connections to St Mary’s.

Pieced together by community researchers through memories, photographs and archival research, the exhibition offers glimpses into everyday lives of people who have lived and worked on Church Hill Road, exploring how the street and its people have changed over time.

Immerse yourself in the street’s evolution by exploring shifts in class, wealth, and architecture; dive into personal stories illustrated by photos, letters, and diaries which capture celebrations and struggles.

‘A Street Through Time’ was made possible with support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and was curated by Fran Meana and the residents of Church Hill Road. The exhibition is free to visit, and is open Monday-Friday, 8.30am to 4pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 4pm.
