Vestry House Museum

Vestry House Museum is a free museum with historical connections to St Mary’s. Built in the 18th century and located around the corner from the church, it previously served as a workhouse, prison, armoury and private home. Check the museum’s opening times here

Orford Road

Orford Road is the main road that runs through Walthamstow Village. It features an interesting mix of pubs, shops and cafes, including the Nag’s Head pub, located next to St Mary’s and the Ancient House. 

Ravenswood Estate

Waltham Forest Town Hall

Waltham Forest Town Hall is a grand 20th century building that has recently been refurbished and now features an expanded public space in front of it called Fellowship Square. In the summer, there are fountains for children to run through, while at other times of the year, markets and other free community events are held in Fellowship Square. 

William Morris Gallery

William Morris Gallery is the world’s largest collection of the work of William Morris, who was christened at St Mary’s and is a pioneer of the Arts and Crafts movement. Housed in the listed building that was once the Morris family home, the gallery explores Morris’s life and work alongside contemporary exhibitions. The museum is a 12-minute walk from St Mary’s.
