Advent and Christmas 2025

Join us for Advent and Christmas 2025 at St Mary’s and in the Parish of Walthamstow.

In addition to our four Sunday Advent services – which begin on 30th November (9am and 10.30am) and run until Sunday 20th December – we will have special services throughout December (full listing below), including two evening carol services, three Christingle services and a 10.30am Christmas Day Family Communion service for the whole community.

Our Messy Christmas (Monday 22nd December, 10am-11.30am) and Christingle-making (Tuesday 23rd December, 10am-11.30am) events are both drop-ins, but you are also welcome to stay for the entire time. Messy Christmas will feature children’s craft activities and a short reflection, while Christingle-making will involve assembling our Christingle oranges for Christmas Eve, which involves putting sticks with sweets and candles into oranges.

None of our services this year, including our two popular carol services, require booking, with the exception of our Quiet Christmas service for neurodiverse children (book here).

However, please note that our two carol services are extremely well attended, so much so that we are often unable to admit everyone for health and safety reasons, so we would encourage you to arrive early (doors will open for both carol services at 5.30pm, though a queue may form outside before that).

Please also note that on Christmas Eve, our 10.30am and 2pm Christingle Services are for younger children (Under 5s), while our later 4pm Christingle Service is geared towards children ages 5+. Our Christingle services will feature a free buggy park, located outside the church building, which we are encouraging you to use as we need to keep the church as clear as possible.
