This year, Holy Week begins on 24 March with Palm Sunday services, and we’ll share Holy Communion at both 9am and 10.30am as we mark Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem.
On Wednesday 27 March, we invite you to join us at 7.30pm for Tenebrae – a beautiful service in which we hear the Passion story read whilst the church gets progressively darker, ending in total darkness.
On 28 March, our sister church, St Gabriel’s (near the corner of Havant Road and Wood Street), will mark Maundy Thursday at 7.30pm.
And then on Good Friday, 29 March, we’ll gather twice at St Mary’s: once at 10am for our Messy Good Friday service for children and families, and later that evening at 7.30pm for our reflective Good Friday service. Meanwhile, St Gabriel’s will hold a Good Friday ‘Watch at the Cross’ from 12-3pm.
On Holy Saturday, St Mary’s will host a Quiet Easter service (booking required – book here) for neurodiverse children.
And then on Easter Sunday, we will celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ at three services: a 6.30am Easter Sunrise Service on the High Street (which leaves from St Mary’s at 6.15am), a 9am Holy Communion service in the church and a 10.30am Holy Communion service in the church.
